Main Room

From 1615 to 1672, Heinrich Schütz worked as the electoral bandmaster in Dresden and at the Frauenkirche. For many, Heinrich Schütz is considered the first German composer to achieve European importance. After his death in 1672, the early Baroque musician was buried in the crypt of the Frauenkirche. In his memory, the association "Heinrich Schütz in Dresden e.V." together with the Frauenkirche Foundation dedicated this memorial plaque.

If you come to one of our many musical devotions or concerts, you might be lucky enough to hear the music that was composed for this very church many centuries ago!
