Our Kern-Organ

During reconstruction we decided to resume the tradition of the Silbermann organ, which filled the Frauenkirche with its sounds until 1945. So an instrument was built that continues the Silbermann tradition, but also meets the demands of modern organ literature. The respected organ builder Daniel Kern from Alsace, more precisely from Dresden's twin city Strasbourg, received the order. He created an instrument with 4,876 pipes and 68 sounding stops distributed over four manuals and a pedal. Its versatility is widely praised: Bach's organ works can be played here just as authentically as organ symphonic works by César Franck or Louise Vierne, for example.
